CWAG is proposing that the Arizona legislature enact the the Verde River Preservation Act.
The proposed legislation would add to ARS 45-555. It requires all groundwater exports to be mitigated to prevent degradation of base flow or water quality. It defines mitigation, incorporates existing mitigation agreements into state law, and requires monitoring and reporting to ADWR.
The proposal DOES NOT change existing authorities for groundwater export.
